Debbie Harrington, DEC 2007-JAN 2008 http://freshfloursseattle.com/blog/2008/05/01/debbie-harrington-dec-2007-jan-2008/ http://freshfloursseattle.com/blog/2008/05/01/debbie-harrington-dec-2007-jan-2008/#comments Thu, 01 May 2008 18:27:20 +0000 Administrator http://freshfloursseattle.com/blog/2008/05/01/debbie-harrington-dec-2007-jan-2008/

Photography is my passion. Traveling the world comes in as a close second. When I can combine the two, it’s a dream job. Luckily, I’ve been fortunate enough to do this on numerous occasions. I love wandering through small towns, discovering the narrow streets and hidden doorways, but equally love to be out in nature; whether it’s hiking the majestic mountains of the Pacific Northwest, kayaking in the South Pacific, or watching the crazy rock climbers scale the Gorge du Verdon in France. I’ve been blessed with many adventures and I try to capture the uniqueness of each location through the lens, leading you to appreciate its natural beauty and its history.
The challenge is to create a composition that’s different by combining light, color, and angle. All of these elements come together to make up my own artistic representation of that particular place.
A Seattle resident, my work is on constant display in stores, coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants. Several have been published in the Seattle Times.
My photographs are taken using various Nikon, Ricoh, and Kodak cameras. Most of my recent work is digital. All photographs are printed on high gloss professional quality paper, and limited to a 25 piece edition.

If you’d like to see more of my work from Italy, France, England, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Canada,
and the Pacific Northwest, please contact me at dneelleyharrington@hotmail.com

KRISTEN GOUGH, OCT-NOV 2007 http://freshfloursseattle.com/blog/2008/05/01/kristen-gough-oct-nov-2007/ http://freshfloursseattle.com/blog/2008/05/01/kristen-gough-oct-nov-2007/#comments Thu, 01 May 2008 18:23:24 +0000 Administrator http://freshfloursseattle.com/blog/2008/05/01/kristen-gough-oct-nov-2007/ Kristen Gough grew up in Ballard, and currently resides with her family in the Greenwood-Phinney Ridge neighborhood. She has spent the last several years working with young people, teaching a variety of subjects and grades at schools in the Seattle area. This is the first time her artwork has been shown in a public venue.

Statement

About a year ago I began drawing, with this body of work in mind. I’m not sure what it was exactly that inspired me to begin drawing these houses. I know I have always been inspired by homes in general, and some of my earliest childhood drawings were in fact of houses. The multi-layered idea of “home” is a beautiful and compelling one to me, and perhaps in these drawings I have tried to capture certain feelings I have surrounding this idea.

It has been a joy for me to create these drawings during an unusually full year of my life. I know without a doubt that this show would not have been realized without the solid and shimmering love and support of my husband Kyle. Not only has he continually encouraged me by reviewing my work and speaking words of affirmation, but he also put in many hours mounting and framing these drawings so that I could put them on display.

I hope you will enjoy viewing these drawings as much as I have enjoyed dreaming them up and creating them. I feel blessed to share them with you.
