TOMOKO BRIGGS, FEB-MAR 2007

April 30th, 2008
My name is Tomoko and I am originally from Japan and currently live in Seattle. My Paintings have been influenced by Japanese, European and American cartoons I watched when I was a child.

I also am inspired by nature and animals and like to make them into something that is not of this world, like my little creatures. I like to see people smile when they see my paintings. I hope you will smile too.

Thank you very much!

JASON ZABRISKIE, DEC 2006- JAN 2007

April 30th, 2008

http://www.jzfoto.com/

Jason Zabriskie, a transplant from the urban density of New York, has embraced his new west coast surroundings with vigor. Seattle and the greater northwest have provided ample opportunities to capture the majesty of the natural world and the people who embrace its endless challenges.

You can hear the flurry of wings in his short of snow geese in migration. You share the moment as two hikers pause in the glow of a Pacific Coast sunset. An avid outdoorsmen, Jason continues to get close to the moment, whether it be via foot, bike skis or kayak.

It’s this ability to put himself into the heart of the action that also makes Jason a brilliant sports photographer. You see the intense focus in the eyes of every competitor, whether professional or amateur. You can always feel the intensity of the moment in Jason’s work.

KARIN YAMAGIWA MADAN & SUZANNE KAUFMAN, AUG-OCT 2006

April 29th, 2008

Suzanne Kaufman was born and raised in the Midwest growing up on healthy doses of Saturday morning cartoons and macaroni and cheese. Her paintings on wood have developed into a series of highly stylized characters and anthropomorphized animals that represent both the sweet and dark misfit in all of us.

Karin Yamagiwa Madan has been drawing and crafting as long as she or anyone who knows her can remember. Working with a variety of media that includes everything from markers, paint, clay and fabric to shrinky dinks, Karin creates memorable and endearing artwork exploring themes of innocence, loss, love, kinship and alienation. Her some-of-a-kind artworks of ‘Stumpytown’ are based on memories of childhood and traits of friends and loved ones. Karin hates getting out of bed and likes the color purple.

KRISTINE COCHRAN, MAR-MAY 2006

April 29th, 2008

A Northwest native, Kristen grew up in Portland, OR and moved to Seattle to attend college. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1998 with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, painting. As a massage therapist and artist, Kristen’s work often references the realities of being human as experienced through our bodies, hearts and minds. Themes of nature, body and spirit predominate Kristen’s work in a covert effort to find those unknown truths that connect, rather than divide, all of humanity despite our age, gender or place in life. Her process is intuitive, reactive, visceral and playful: the process dictates the outcome which is rarely, if ever, known in advance.

Kristen has recently emerged in the Seattle art scene taking part in multiple group and solo shows around the city.

TODD KARAM

April 29th, 2008

His paintings grow from impulsive creativity and expression. He sees individual objects
as art and capturing them is an extension of their existence. He is moved less by the actual object, but instead the underlying nature and the surrounding environment. His paintings express the emotional and physical presence of the objects and the individuality they represent.

His philosophy is simple. Move fast, keep going, and never slow down. Don’t strive for the expected, that’s much too easy. A project should never be anything less than spectacular. There is a direct correlation between a client’s satisfaction and the success of a project. Never lose sight of the goals. Don’t look back, keep going and enjoy. It’s that simple.
